Yvrose and Pierre Richard have established a school in their remote region of Haiti, Fond Parisien at the foot of the mountains, 20 minutes from the Dominican Republic Border. The school is aimed at the poorest children in the community, offering a free education and a meal for each child – often the only meal the children get that day. Many children arrive at school each day dehydrated. There are no other free schools in this area. This gives each child the right to an education; an opportunity to change their future.
Catchment
Children walk up to 4 miles to attend school daily .
There are now around 960 children in total attending Hope Christian Academy each day.
Secondary School

Funding
Salaries for all of the teachers, administrator, cooks and cleaners are provided by donors . Some teachers have 105 students in their classes . If you would like to sponsor/ part sponsor a teacher who in turn impacts so many more lives please get in touch. We can’t operate a school without teachers. A monthly salary is around $150 US.
You can see the gallery of some of our teachers and read more about sponsorship here.
Background
Initially the school met in tents but they deteriorated in the sun and hurricanes left them no longer usable. They are now housed in an open sided, metal framed barn type building, and timber framed school classrooms . Donations from USA , England , Spain and Ireland have helped us achieve the buildings and school resources we have today. As the school community has grown so to has our need to have more classrooms and teachers.
