Ways to help
Since the establishment of Hope House Haiti UK, we have helped support Hope House and Hope Christian Academy in a variety of ways. Financial support has underpinned every aspect of the school’s development and growth, from the purchase of wood to make benches for the school, foundations for the church and school buildings, materials for school gates and walls, through to sponsorship of teacher salaries and food for the children who attend the school. We have also sent out to Haiti a variety of practical items such as underpants, school uniform, sports equipment, medical equipment and pharmaceuticals as well as organise trips where individuals can visit and share their professional knowledge and skills with the community.
Donations
All gifts are hugely appreciated and we welcome every financial gift given, however big or small. General donations are used wherever funds are most needed, but if you wish you can restrict your donation to be used in one of the following areas:
- Teachers – to ‘sponsor a teacher’ working at the Hope Christian Academy
- Food – to pay for a hot nutritious daily meal for children attending school
- Medical – to pay for the medicines needed to protect children from illness and disease
- Project – to pay for infrastructure and social enterprise initiatives
- Mission – to pay the costs for those visiting Haiti.
- Children – to support children and provide them clothing and other essentials.
- Christmas – to provide the children with toys and treats at Christmas.
Clothing and School resources
School uniform is expensive to buy in Haiti, but the Haitian Government insist that all children attending school must wear uniform. Teams travelling out to Haiti take excess luggage containing donated gifts such as items of clothing. Things needed are underwear, grey and white socks, black school shoes, grey school shorts and trousers and skirts for girls, either new or second hand to reasonable quality.
Clothing is needed in sizes 3 – 18 years, but there is a particular need for the larger sizes.
We are also seeking to create a school library, and need money to help pay for local educational Haitian books and other school resources.

Fundraising
A significant part of our funding is raised through fundraising events, such as open garden parties, running stalls at village days, or hosting a BBQ or dinner party. If you are interested in holding an event or helping with fundraising, please email and let us know.
Knowledge and Skills
